Spring is here


This is the first spring here. That means lots of garden ticks at the moment. This bird pictured above was one of them. One of those tricky Phylloscopus warblers... - just as well it was singing its little lungs out from the tree right by our front door.

It's a Willow Warbler. I heard a Chiffchaff singing from somewhere nearby last week, and two Swallows swooped around the front of the house this morning, too. I expect they'll nest in the barns down the road, like the Starlings and House Sparrows. It's going to get crowded in there.

What'll be next? Perhaps Sand or House Martins, or maybe Yellow Wagtail. That'd be nice. Or Turtle Dove...?
